Climbing course sandstone

Hardly any region is as famous and at the same time as controversial when it comes to climbing as Saxon Switzerland. It starts with the fact that the Elbsandstein mountains ist not a sport climbing area, as many people think. It is pure alpin Rockclimbing. This approach also has its justification. Climbing is exclusively on free-standing rock formations, i.e. on peaks that have no connection to larger massifs (apart from a few exceptions, climbing on massifs is expressly prohibited).

Although the peaks are not enormous, the route to them presents some difficulties. With a few exceptions, there are NO SAFETY RINGS up to level VII of the Saxon climbing scale. All intermediate backups must therefore be laid by yourself.
For reasons of nature conservation, however, the use of metal security devices is prohibited. Intermediate securing may only be laid with band material (so-called knotted slings).

As it becomes clear, climbing is in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains has its special moments and cannot be compared with outdoor climbing in other regions and certainly not with indoor climbing. So if you want to go vertical, always do so with the necessary respect, go with the locals or attend a beginner's course either with us or with another provider!
