Pine forests at dizzy heights
Hike to Tamadaba
This challenging day hike takes you from Agaete to Tamadaba and is a MUST for any Gran Canaria hiker. The endpoint of the hike is the ruin of an old scout camp high above the island in the Tamadaba Natural Park, characterized by large pine forests.
The starting point is the small village of San Pedro (located above Agaete) in the northwest of the island (about 40 minutes' drive from Las Palmas). From here, your path leads through spectacular valleys, up to the plateau where the Tamadaba National Park sits high above.
Since large sections of the tour lead through open, unshaded terrain, an early start is important, especially in summer, to tackle the ascent (a total of almost 1100 meters in altitude) before the midday heat sets in. In the cool pine forest, you can then rest and enjoy the stunning views, exploring the plateau on your own or taking a nap in the shade.
Please remember to bring at least three liters of water per person, a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen! A sun umbrella can also be very helpful for particularly sensitive individuals or children!

Anstrengende aber sehr lohnende Wanderung!
Die Aussischt von oben ist wunderbar und noch schöner, weil man selbst nach oben gelaufen ist!
